Description of Facilities

 

v      Electricity

            In addition to power available from the prefectural government  buildings, there is also an additional power feeder for the Center.

                  Maximum Incoming Voltage:1450 kVA   Electricity Generation Appliances:2 diesel appliances (400  kVA) with a fuel stockpile for 3 days An Uninterruptible Power  Supply system with a maximum output of 150 kVA

 

v      Air conditioning

            An air-circulation chiller and a heat-absorbing water tank 2 cooling and heating water devices using gas and fuel.

v      Water supply

            Underground water can be extracted from a well at the site of the Center as drinking  water in an emergency and is usually available for non-drinking uses.

v      Gas

            In order to secure a stable gas supply in an emergency, medium pressure gas is led in to the site.

                       

v      Satellite Communication Networks

            Wireless networks utilizing a satellite link a variety of organizations concerning disaster management, including the prefectural government and its district administrative offices, other local organizations, municipalities and fire headquarters. The networks make it possible to promptly collect and provide information that is relevant to a disaster, together with data of the local weather and damages that would occur in each area in case of disasters. Communication by voice and other data, facsimiles, visual images via satellite

 

The Institute will serve as a unique centre for Disaster Management activities and will play a major role during the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation period. In the event of a disaster it will turn to be an ‘Oasis in the Desert’.
