It is a great honor and privilege to welcome you all to KOJAIN Sammelan-2000 sponsored by the Northeast region of KOJAIN at the Cherry Hill Hilton, Cherry Hill, NJ. I sincerely thank the Sammelan Committee members and all the volunteers from Northeast and many other regions for organizing this Sammelan and working diligently to make it a Success! We have come a long way since our first Sammelan at Siddhachalam in September 1990. We have formally organized our association as KOJAIN (The Kachchhi Oswal Jain Association of North America) in 1995 and have successfully launched and/or completed several projects such as scholarships. Cyclone Relief Fund, Matunga Boarding etc. I am sure that with your continued support and cooperation, we will be able to cany out many other activities and launch more programs in the future. The foundation of our Association is strong and its goals are very well articulated in our constitution. Ouf objectives, among others, are to engage in charitable, educational, religious and social activities and maintain and advance the culture of our community in North America India and elsewhere. Sammelans of this kind are the vehicles to maintain, promote and enhance our culture, art and religion not only for ourselves but also for our future generations. We are proud of our heritage. We share common language, religion, customs and friends. Although geographically we are far away from our homeland Kachchh, yet we have not forgotten our roots. It is difficult to meet OUT friends from other regions frequently because of the distance, hence we look forward to these gatherings, where we not only create and renew our friendships and acquaintances but our children also have an opport(.Biity to meet and befriend other Kachchhi children. It is encouraging to note that a large number of youths are actively participating in this event. I also take this opportunity to thank all the Board Members, Executive Committee Members, volunteers and all the KOJAIN members for their support during the last two and half years of my presidency and look forward to their support and cooperation for the remainder of my term.
