South Indian Chilly Vada
Ingredients:
Proportion : 4 People
  • 250 gm Bengal gram (chana dal) (soak it for 6 hrs)
  • 2 onions cut longly
  • 4 green chilies
  • 2" ginger
  • ½ cup coriander
  • 1cup coconut shredded
  • 1/3cup mint leaves finely chopped
  • 1 sp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 5 red chilies
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/8 pinch Asafetida
  • 1teaspoon coriander seed
  • 1teaspoon pepper powder
 
Method:
  • Soak coriander seed, red chilies in water.
  • Crush dal, coriander seed paste, coconut shredded in a mixture.
  • Mix the above ingredients, onion, coriander, mint leaves in the mixture.
  • Make small balls from it.
  • Heat the oil in a pan.
  • Deep-fry the balls.
  • Remove the balls and keep it on the tissue paper.
  • Cut it in to half pieces.
  • Again fry it and make it hard.
  • Hard vada tastes nice.
Note:
  • Instead of onion cabbage can also be used. Have it with sauce or coconut chutney. This item can be used in rainy days or as snacks.
