Sambhar
Ingredients:

Proportion: 4 to 6 people

  • 1 cup Red gram (tuver dal)
  • 1 tomato finely chopped.
  • 1 onion finely chopped.
  • 1 drumstick (cut into 4 pieces)
  • 1 tsp tamarind pulp.
  • Salt to taste.

For Sambhar Masala

  • 6 to 8 red chilies.
  • 1 sp coriander seed.
  • 1 sp fenugreek seed.
  • 1 tsp red gram (tuver dl)
  • 1 tsp Bengal gram (chana dal)
  • 1 tsp black gram (udad dal)
  • 1 sp turmeric.
  • ½ sp asafetida.
  • 1sp oil.

For sizzling

  • 1 sp mustard seed.
  • 6 curry leaves.
  • ¼ sp asafetida.
  • 2 tsp oil.



 

Method:

For Sambhar Masala

  • Heat the oil in a pan and roast all the sambhar masala ingredients.
  • Blend all this mixture in the blender and put it aside.


Next Method:

  • Wash the dals and then put tomato, onion and drumstick in the pressure cooker and boil.
  • Boil tamarind pulp, sambhar masala, salt with 4 cup water.
  • For sizzling heat the oil.
  • Put curry leaves, mustard seed and asafetida.
  • Let it cracle.
  • Mix sambhar masala in it and allow it to boil for 15 mins
  • Serve it with hot dosas and idlis.
