Sambhar

Ingredients: |
Proportion:
4 to 6 people
- 1 cup Red gram
(tuver dal)
- 1 tomato finely
chopped.
- 1 onion finely
chopped.
- 1 drumstick (cut
into 4 pieces)
- 1 tsp tamarind
pulp.
- Salt to taste.
For Sambhar Masala
- 6 to 8 red chilies.
- 1 sp coriander
seed.
- 1 sp fenugreek
seed.
- 1 tsp red gram
(tuver dl)
- 1 tsp Bengal gram
(chana dal)
- 1 tsp black gram
(udad dal)
- 1 sp turmeric.
- ½ sp asafetida.
- 1sp oil.

For
sizzling
- 1
sp mustard seed.
- 6
curry leaves.
- ¼
sp asafetida.
- 2
tsp oil.

Method:
For Sambhar Masala
- Heat the oil in
a pan and roast all the sambhar masala ingredients.
- Blend all this
mixture in the blender and put it aside.
Next Method:
- Wash the dals and
then put tomato, onion and drumstick in the pressure cooker and boil.
- Boil tamarind pulp,
sambhar masala, salt with 4 cup water.
- For sizzling heat
the oil.
- Put curry leaves,
mustard seed and asafetida.
- Let it cracle.
- Mix sambhar masala
in it and allow it to boil for 15 mins
- Serve it with hot
dosas and idlis.
