Western Railway has the privilege to serve the entire Gujarat state Gandhidham is the gateway to the major port of Kandla and the Kutch region. It is a major terminus which was opened by the President of India on 2nd October, 1952.
      Over the years, Gandhidham has emerged as trie major town with important industries like salt, petroleum supply, etc. It is also famous for its aesthetic and beautiful handicrafts. There has been a persistent demand of the people of the region tc provide one more direct train between Mumbai and Gandhidham.
      In this regard, Western Railway decided to introduce another train tc meet the needs and demands of the people by merging 2963/2964 Bandra Terminus - Vadodara Sayajinagari Express with 9103/9104 Vadodara - Gandhidham and thereby introducing a direct Express train 9601/9602 between Bar;draTerminus-Gandhiaham.
      With this merger of the above trains, the train load of the newly introduced direct train will be increased from 18 coaches to 22 coaches with AC 3 tier facility along with a convenient overnight journey between Vadodara and Gandhidham with AC 2-tier and AC 3-tjer fadlity which was not available in Vadodara-Gandhidham Intercity Express.
      With the introduction of this train, the accomodation availability will he- increased from 326 to 356 berths for reserved passengers and from 789 to 868 for unreserved passengers between Vadodara and Bandra Terminus. Thus, the passengers will have all facilities intact lika adequate stoppages and sufficient accomodation between Vadodara and Bandra Terminus.
      The rake of this train is equipped with airbrake system which results in better coaches and better speed.
